Consumer chemicals and containers include various products used in household and consumer applications. This includes, but is not limited to, household cleaning products, adhesives and sealants, paints and coatings, automotive chemicals, fuels, other chemical substances (such as acids, solvents, corrosives), and chemical containers (e.g., plastic, metal, glass).

SOR/2001-269 Core Testing Items Include:

1. Child-resistant Testing for Containers
· Testing Standard: Practical testing using children aged 42-72 months
Testing Procedure:
Phase One: Children have 5 minutes to attempt to open the container
Phase Two (if not opened): After demonstrating the opening method, another 5 minutes are given to attempt
Passing Criteria: At least 85% of children must be unable to open the container within 10 minutes
2. Toxicology Assessment
· Acute toxicity evaluation based on product ingredients
